Amazon Appstore & Angry Birds

Recently, Engadget posted an article on Angry Birds will be exclusive on Android - breaking the news Amazon released on their blog that Angry Birds will have a new game which will launch exclusively on the new Android Appstore.

What does this mean for developers?

Amazon Appstore will be successful by the sheer strength of Amazon. Combine this new 'exclusive' game, even for a limited time, with their ability to suggest Amazon.com physical products with apps and they are going to give small time developers a significant opportunity to market their app.

Were you listening? Get on the Android Appstore now.

I can't make a big enough deal of the physical product suggestion. Take one of my Android apps for example: it's a Charades suggestion app. This app in particular has a very limited audience - it is extremely difficult to market the app to the right audience.

Imagine if a user was purchasing Taboo (a board game similar to Charades) and my application was suggested with it for $0.99. Add just $0.99 to my order? Sure, why not! Amazon's Appstore will be huge for niche markets. You can't get that kind of association on any app store right now. Amazon will bring to apps what Google brings to websites.

Submit your app now to make sure it's included in the launch marketing. You've got nothing to lose and many, many users to gain!
